when asked at the forum held on October 7:
Chamber Commentary:
Matt Czajkowski, a retired finance executive, has proven he is not
a rubber stamp on over-rampant development, yet is an advocate for
business issues the Chamber finds most compelling. Often one vote
against eight in his two years since being elected to Town Council
in 2007, he appreciates the need for balanced discussions on the council
rather than unpopular ideas getting raised and dismissed, and he believes
that business views are consistently underrepresented in this way.
Czajkowski said that Chapel Hill still suffers from the reputation
of being "not business friendly" and that he would be the
mayor that could bring the council together to show the town is open
for business. Though he has two years remaining in his term on the
council, he could be a much more effective communicator and advocate
for economic development issues from the mayor’s chair. "We
need a mayor who is in the middle of the discussion."
