The Chamber is involved in local elections, including Chapel Hill and Carrboro municipal elections, as well as elections for Orange County Board of Commisioners. In order to inform our members and the greater public, we:
Candidates receive a survey with each question is multiple choice (yes/no/unsure) with one short answer question about what three things he/she would do to help grow and sustain enterprise in their community.
Chamber staff and Chamber member volunteers interview each candidate for 45-60 minutes, asking them open-ended questions.
During municipal elections, the Chamber hosts a forum. In the past, we've partnered with Orange-Chatham Sierra Club and EmPOWERment, Inc.
Each candidate has a fair, but not neutral, description, with particular attention paid to candidate’s views on business and economic development issues. These are not endorsements.
