Where is the DMV?
The DMV Driver License Office is located in Carrboro at 104-GG Carrboro Plaza (off of NC-54 Bypass/NC 54-Business in the Carrboro Plaza shopping center). The Vehicle and License Plate Office in Orange County is located at 1704-B E. Franklin St. adjacent to Staples in the Gateway Commons Plaza shopping center in Chapel Hill; in Durham County at 1058 W. Are you funded by the Town of Chapel Hill or Orange County?
The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce receives no government funding and is an independent 501(c)(6) nonprofit entity. However, some government entities, such as Orange County and The Town of Carrboro, see value in Chamber membership and joined as members.

How do I get a marriage license?
The Orange County Register of Deeds office is the official grantor of marriage licenses in our county. To obtain a marriage license, complete the steps below and visit www.co.orange.nc.us/deeds/marriage/asp for more information.
Go to the Register of Deeds Office at 228 S. Churton St. in downtown Hillsborough from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday (except holidays)
Bring a valid ID (driver license, state issued ID card, passport or military ID)
Bring a Social Security card, W-2 form or payroll stub with your complete Social Security number
Bring $60 cash or money order
Both applicants should be present at the time of making application

When is the Chapel Hill holiday parade?
The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade takes place from 10 a.m.-noon on a Saturday in December and is presented by the Jaycees and the Town of Chapel Hill. Visit Raleigh Jaycees for more information.

Where can I get a phone book?
We carry AT&T's YP yellow pages in our office. Contact us at (919) 967-7075 to confirm availability and stop by our office at 104 S. Estes Drive in Chapel Hill to pick up copies.
Where is the post office?
The U.S. Post Office closest to our office is located across Estes Drive at 125 S. Estes Drive in Chapel Hill. There are also post offices in downtown Chapel Hill at 179 E. Franklin St.; and in Carrboro at 1500 W. Main St. Visit www.usps.com for additional locations.
How do I register my car?
When moving to North Carolina, you must obtain a North Carolina driver license before you can register a vehicle. Upon moving to North Carolina from another state, you must register your vehicle at the expiration of the time granted by the reciprocity agreement between North Carolina and your prior state of residence (usually 30 days) or when gainful employment is accepted, whichever occurs first. How do I register my child for public school?
Registration for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools district takes place at Lincoln Center at 750 S. Merritt Mill Road in Chapel Hill. Only parents or legal guardians with required documentation can register students, and students do not need to accompany their parents/guardians to be enrolled. Visit www.chccs.k12.nc.usfor more information and to download registration forms, or complete forms at Lincoln Center.
How much are taxes in Orange County?
Find property tax rates for Orange County with the Orange County Department of Revenue. It is part of the Chamber's public policy agenda to decrease the property tax burden on Orange County property owners.
The sales tax in Orange County is 7.5%.
Whom do I call for trash pick-up?
For information regarding trash collection in Chapel Hill, contact the Town of Chapel Hill’s Public Works Department at (919) 969-5100, or visit the Public Works Trash Collection site. If you’re in Carrboro, contact Carrboro Public Works at (919) 918-7425, or visit the Public Works site. For other inquiries, contact Orange County Solid Waste Management at (919) 968-2788.
Is the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?
No, we are not. We are an independent organization governed exclusively by our local board of directorsand not a construct of a national or state organization. We simply share a last name with the U.S. and North Carolina chambers of commerce. Our Chamber is not a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and no portion of our members’ membership dues goes to the U.S. Chamber. We are members of the NC Chamber of Commerce.
Where is the Visitors Bureau?
The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau is located at 501 W. Franklin St. in downtown Chapel Hill. Contact the Visitors Bureau at (888) 968-2060 and visit www.visitchapelhill.org for more information.
How do I register to vote?
You may register at the Orange County Board of Elections at 208 S. Cameron St. in downtown Hillsborough or at any NC Driver License Office. You may also register by mail using voter registration forms, which are available online, at the public library inside University mall at 201 S. Estes Drive in Chapel Hill, at Chapel Hill Town Hall at 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and at Carrboro Town Hall at 301 W. Main St.
To register, you must have been a resident of the state and county for 30 days prior to the election.
North Carolina does offer early voting and same day registration, but same day voting is only available during the early voting period.

No, it’s free! Stop by and start your tour with a close encounter with Piney the Nuisance Cardinal - don't worry, the glass window will shield you. Then sneak a peek at Guten Hag, our neighborhood groundhog, and Dumpsta Squirrel. And if you’re really lucky, you may spot kittens, and turtles, and hawks, oh my!
