  • Chamber Announces 2013 Business of the Year Finalists

    Chapel Hill, NC – The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2013 Business of the Year finalists.  Award winners will be revealed at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30 at The UNC Friday Center for Continuing Education, located at 100 Friday Center Dr. in Chapel Hill. 
     
    The finalists for the 2013 Business of the Year Awards are:
     
    Micro-Enterprise of the Year (0-5 employees) presented by Coastal Federal Credit Union:

    • i9 Sports
    • Sweeps
    • Trader Chris Consignments
     
    Mid-Size Business of the Year (6-50 employees) presented by Harrington Bank:
    • 140 West Franklin
    • Vimala’s Curryblossom Café        
    • PTA Thrift Shop
     
    Large Business of the Year (51+ employees):
    • ARCA
    • The Carolina Inn
    • Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston
     
    Non-Profit of the Year presented by Triangle Community Foundation:  
    • Community Empowerment Fund
    • Compass Center for Women and Families
    • Orange County Rape Crisis Center
    • Paws4Ever
     
    The Chamber will also announce the Public-Private Partnership Award recipient and the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award recipient at the Annual Meeting.
     
    At the Annual Meeting, Chamber members, elected officials, and regional business leaders and owners will network with one another and celebrate the Chamber’s success and the successes of Chamber members in 2013.  The keynote speaker will be Meg McGurk, executive director of the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership.  The 2014 Annual Meeting is sponsored by Duke Energy, Jennings, Triangle Community Foundation, Harrington Bank, Coastal Federal Credit Union, Courtyard Marriott, Comma, Two Men and A Truck, and Duke University Health System
